My Reflections on the article:

Global warming is a hot topic in recent years. People are highly concern about it due to the dramatic impact it will rise. It will raise the sea-level rise which will gradually inundate coastal areas, change precipitation patterns, increase the risk of droughts and floods, threat biodiversity, and a number of potential challenges for public health.

Then many people may wonder as what the author did, is global warming link to globalization? Is it caused by globalization or can be solved by it?

In my point of view, global warming is a sign of globalization and moreover, it can not be solved without country interactions and corporations.

If there is no globalization, the global warming may not be so serious. There are prediction says that there will be additional warming over the 21st century, with current projections of a global increase of 2.5ºF to 10.4ºF by 2100, This warming is largely the result of emissions of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases from human activities including industrial processes, fossil fuel combustion, and changes in land use, such as deforestation. If there is no globalization, those activities will not be so active. As, there are more interactions between countries in different aspect, such as, trade, tourism and so on, the transportations increases. Transportation contributes largely to global warming as they need to generate energy for cars, planes, trains and so on to move. The energy sector is responsible for about ¾ of the carbon dioxide emissions, 1/5 of the methane emissions and a large quantity of nitrous oxide.

In addition, the industry activities also increase due to the globalization. As there are more and more interactions between countries, the industries has larger markets hence they need to produce more. They tend to set their factories all around the world. With the basically free flow of capital and investment but the relative stability of labour, transnational corporations have found it economical to have different manufacturing plants specialise in certain parts and then transport them to another location for assembly. The globalization of automobile manufacturing is a good example. In the process, they cut down great number of trees to make space for their factories and fossil fuel is largely used in industry sector which not only generate large amount of greenhouse gases which causes the global warming but also destroy the natural organisms which will absorb greenhouse gases.

However, despite the fact that globalization have some impact on causing global warming, it is also very important for people to detect and slow down the rate of global warming.
The scientists detect the rate of global warming using satellites, instrumental records, historical records and proxy data. Large sophisticated computer models of the climate system are also used to stimulate future climate change. Those highly technology are spread from developed countries to less developed countries to help them detect the climate change. Moreover, the results are shared to raise the concern of all the people on the earth that we should do something to prevent increasing rate 0f climate change. Furthermore, if there is no globalization, the modern technique, which will increase the energy efficiency so that we do not need many fossil fuels in generating energy , can not go from more developed countries to less developed countries to help them to reduce their greenhouse gas emission, too.
In addition, If there is no globalization, how can there be corporation, agreement and organization formed? If there is no corporation between counties, how can the global warming be slowed down? Global warming, as its name suggests, it is not a problem faced by one country or two but the whole earth; it is not a problem that can be solved by one country or two but the whole world. That is why we need Kyoto Protocol and “actions implemented jointly”, a paln drawn by UN climate change negotiations and many other international organizations. There is no use for only one country to reduce its greenhouse emission. Hence those interactions and organizations are needed for countries to work together under certain rules and goals and remain each other to lighten the problem. If there is no globalization, all those organizations may not be possible.

Hence, in conclusion, globalization is closely linked to global warming. We can not say that globalization is good or bad for the global warming, but we have to know that globalization somehow speed up the climate change. On the other hand, it also plays important roles in making all the countries to work together to slow down the climate change.
